" My name is Ivana and I am a “bleisure” traveler (bleisure = business + leisure). I work for a multinational corporation as an internal auditor. This job gave me a chance to visit more than 20 countries over the past few years. What I usually do when on a business trip is extending my trip for a couple of days or combining with vacation days, so I can make my trip more fun.
Most frequent business travelers don’t do that and all they can see is the airport, the office, and the hotel. My question is what their excuse is. Too much work? A family who is waiting for them at home? Maybe they are just too busy to plan everything in advance. I agree that sometimes it is not easy and you don’t have enough time for planning. Of course, we need to consider travel policies and make a clear distinction between business and personal expenses.
I think there is a new generation of young business travelers who are more willing to bleisure and enjoy in every single business trip. I was thinking about starting a travel blog that would inspire people like me to get the best of their business trips. That’s how I found out about this new term “bleisure” and decided to start “Ivana’s Bleisure” travel blog. Since I am from Serbia, I usually extend my trips for a weekend when I am in Europe. When I am going to other continents, I use my vacation days so I can visit more places, sometimes even more countries. The best thing is that the return ticket is usually paid by the company and it saves a lot of money.
My favorite bleisure trips were Guatemala business trip with 5 days in Cancun (Mexico) and India business trip with 9 days in Thailand. Sometimes I travel with my colleagues and sometimes I am a solo traveler. Some of my solo trips were actually the best experiences in my life. I enjoyed being alone and I also met a lot of people. I hope my travel stories will inspire other business travelers to make their business trips a lifetime experience."
